Canon has announced its PowerShot SX170 compact superzoom and the SX510 full-size superzoom digital cameras. The PowerShot SX510 HS' predecessor, the SX500, used a 16 megapixel CCD sensor. The SX510 gets a 12.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, hence the new 'HS' designation. Built-in Wi-Fi is also added to the SX510's feature set, and it offers what's almost certainly the same 30x 24-720mm equivalent optical zoom lens that the SX500 used, a 3.0 inch LCD and 1080/24p video. It will be available in September for $249.99. 
The SX170 is much the same as its SX160 predecessor with a 16x optical zoom and 16 megapixel CCD sensor, though it's no longer powered by AA-batteries.
