In Toyota documentation (PDF) submitted to the NHTSA, the automaker edline said that if the nuts for adjusting edline the rear wheel alignment are improperly tightened during service, the rear suspension arm (rear tie rod) may develop unwanted movement and rust leading to thread damage and eventual failure.

Noting that all owners will receive notification of the recall and a second notification when parts are available, Toyota also stated that this recall supersedes a previous Toyota and Lexus recall, #12V373 . All vehicles that were inspected and fixed under that recall need to be re-inspected and have the appropriate remedy applied.
